a kelly konundrum

I have a lot of thoughts on the world that I like tossing out to other people to see what they think of them and hopefully make you think too! I'm going to call these thoughts: KELLY KONUNDRUMS--and hopefully I will have at least one a week for you! I can already think of next week's!
Do you want to know when a relationship has truly gone sour in my opinion? A relationship has failed and become entirely boring when all you can talk about is the future. Think about it: you know those couples that have been together forever and ever and all they talk about are their future children's names even though they are 17...do those relationships ever last? NO. When all you can talk about with someone is your future together, you have lost all sight of the present and have stopped truly living a life in today's world.

I'm not saying that living without future plans is a good idea...but it's not something to fixate on. Either you two will end up married and happily ever after or you won't...but why focus so much on a destination if you aren't paying any attention to the journey you are spending getting there?

(I know I double posted today but since I am going away for the next week, I figured I'd give you an extra post today!)

wedding bells!

My sister and her long-time boyfriend got engaged a few weeks ago. As happy as I was for my sister to get tied down to the love of her life, I was even more happy that she selected me to be a bridesmaid! They are looking to be married at the end of July next summer at the chapel at Bucknell University, where they both met. 'Ray Bucknell!

....and currently, they are planning to host the reception at a winery right around the corner from the school...
With event planning being something I truly enjoy doing, I jumped at the chance to be a part of the wedding planning process and emailed my older sister to ask her if I could be her unofficial wedding planner and ....she said YES! Now I can only dream of charming wedding invitations......delicate floral arrangements...
...and of course, bridesmaid dresses! (I love the trend of different style dresses with one color scheme).
We will be talking more at the beach this weekend when I spend time with her and her fiance! Can't wait to update you all! Happy weekend!

From Intern to CEO

Sometimes it's tough being an intern. Don't get me wrong--I couldn't be happier to have a summer job that is giving me experience that I can use in the future--but there are definitely days when I question the value of my work. Here's a picture of me and Shelby on one such day without anything to do:

Today is beginning to feel like one of those days as my time with the marketing company I work at begins to come to a close...then I stumbled across this article this morning: Internships teach you time management, how to work as a team, responsibility, and accountability. The world's top CEOs started somewhere--and many of them started as interns! So when I start feeling blue at work, I can think of Douglas McMillon, the CEO of Walmart, who backed his Honda into his bosses' car on his first day of work...if you can survive that and be successful, I most certainly can too! (Except I did back into the UPS truck in the parking lot last week...oops!)

Men of the Future

Shelby, the other girl that I intern with, and I often have funny life conversations during our lunch and afternoon breaks at work. Recently, our conversations have turned to thoughts of marriage as two of my close friends and my sister got engaged in the past month! Super exciting!

Anyways, although I am currently not single, I have been thinking of all of the relationships I want to have before I am settled down for good. Shelby and I compiled a list of relationships/circumstances we think would be valuable/fun to put ourselves in prior to the big engagement:

-Date someone I remained really good friends with after
-Date someone with an accent
-Date someone my parents would never in a million years approve of
-Go on a blind date
-Have my heart broken
-Leave a relationship because I chose to.
-Date someone I would never say yes to under normal circumstances
-Date two people at once
-Date someone at least 5 years older than me
-Date someone without telling anyone

**To clarify, we are using "date" to mean go on a few dates with.

An intro to me!

Hello all! My name is Kelly and I have spent the summer interning at an online marketing company outside of Washington, DC where I live and got officially hooked on reading blogs and following people on Twitter. I write regularly on a blog for the company I work at but decided it was time for me to create my own blog!

I am a 21 year old college student at a small liberal arts school in Pennsylvania majoring in Business Management with an Anthropology minor. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life when I went to college but I know now that I am very interested in pursuing a career in public relations/event planning and am planning to work hard in my last year of college to find a job somewhere in this realm.

In general, I’m an incredibly happy person and looking forward to spending my senior year living in a house with 7 of my best friends and sorority sisters at college! I love, love, love being outside and playing soccer, but when I chose to not pursue a college soccer career, I turned to other forms of exercise for entertaining. I enjoy step aerobics classes, yoga, and running and have been training over the past couple weeks for my first half marathon on September 12^th!

Besides this, I LOVEEE country music and try to go to as many concerts as I can get myself to. This summer I saw Eric Church (my absolute favorite!), Joe Nichols, Bucky Covington, Montgomery Gentry, Little Big Town, Jack Ingram, and the Eli Young Band! I’ve also recently joined the Day Zero Project (completing 101 goals in 1001 days) and soon enough I’ll have my list of all 101 things up on the blog with updates!

I’m still very young and have a lot of living left to do so I hope you enjoy my blog as much as I enjoy all the ones I read!
